A plan so crazy it just might work.
A plan that creates a desire within atheists that they can’t resist. A desire that brings them face to face with the kind of evidence and arguments that converted me from my atheism. So how can we create that situation? Dare the atheists to bring the best arguments they can muster and even award the best ones they come up with. Because curiosity is a funnel. Atheists can’t resist testing their best argument—and collecting a prize (funded by merch sells) is like honey to a bear. When they come, many of them will have a chance to see something for the first time. The powerful case for God that you have to choose to deny
I’m living poof this can work.
As a former Atheist that found God through science One lesson I learned is that evidence persuades when people actually meet it. Most skeptics haven’t faced the sharpest theistic arguments. Many believers haven’t seen it either and lack the confidence they should have and sometimes loose their way as a result. Both camps would benefit greatly by the same design and principle. A design thats easy to navigate. A design that breaks the various arguments and questions in ways where its easy to find what your looking for. But most importantly a design that brings together the best arguments from the widest community.
The long term results show the most promise.
But I’m most interested in the long term gains from this rather then attracting people in the short term. There are long term gains that I think far out weigh the substantial short term prospects. If this is structured right with the incentives I’m proposing then we have a chance to have a site that can be of benefit to people on every side of the fence for years. It has a chance at winning hearts and minds but for our side it can:
- Shareable clarity. Finally, links you can hand a friend that aren’t two-hour videos.
- Church-ready content. Small groups can work on material on the message forum.
- Gearing up God’s army A system of platforms designed to equip Christians with solid tools.
- Stemming the unacceptable loss of our youth to atheism when they reach college.
- Provide the anti dote to the coming explosion in deception by new technologies
Theres more to this but I don’t want to this post to get to long.
I am interested in any feedback. I’m not afraid of opinions or criticism. So feel free to speak your voice and you won’t get a nasty response but rather gratitude. If your interesting in taking over one of the sections, helping to develop a proper Christian apologetic department/section that would be awesome. And no matter what I wish you the best and may God bless you and yours.
